Like many others I assumed that Pavarotti’s rendition of Nessun Dorma was the ultimate and surpassed all others including versions by Caruso, Di Stefano, Gigli and many others – and maybe it does – what do I know? Tonight I was moved to tears – I mean tears streaming down my face for minutes on end. Feeling depressed despite earlier watching clips of the BBC's Until Death Do Us Part – I switched to André Rieu – Liberace would have loved André! Both showman, both entertainers, both bringing music to the masses! André Rieu’s tribute to Luciano Pavarotti and his performance of Nessun Dorma featuring his orchestra and singers moved me beyond words. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO7_H7ydurM So maybe its not the ultimate version – but I challenge anyone to watch and listen and not be moved. And as the final notes faded away and with the house empty I hear voices from the past.
